City lights twinkled below. It was a calming atmosphere, which was exactly what the mutant teenager needed. It was all her stupid sister's fault! If Tara hadn't brought over her stupid friends, Demmie wouldn't be here. That stupid kid's screams still echoed in her ears. It was all just stupid.
Tara always had to make Demmie feel like more of a freak, an outcast, one of the unnaccepted. Tara knew she wasn't allowed to have people near Demmie because of her deformities. Her parents made her sound like some sort of monster, but that's what she was, wasn't she?
A gust of warm summer wind picked at Demmie's multi-coloured wings and hair. Getting up from her sheltered nook, she stepped to the edge of the ledge (ha, i rhyme:]), the rest of the Effiel Tower stretching below her. The Parisian streets were basically deserted. Why wouldn't they be? It was 3:oo am.
The parrot-girl stretched her massive wings, felling the warm air catch her moonlit feathers. I guess this is calming me down, she thought. She let her ever-changing eyes scan the sleeping city of Paris, looking for something, but not knowing what that was.
